Being small and boutique means having freedom to take creative risks
I started by making things for myself, that I thought sounded great.
Turns out that the local guitar jedi liked those tones too, often replacing workhorse gear they’d had on their boards for years. A significant number of my customers have more than one PHD on their board.
The only thing better than having a client come back for more is hearing what they do with the gear, live or in the studio. I love music, most of us do…it’s a big part of life. Being in on that creative process, knowing I had a role in whatever those songs or concerts or jam sessions meant to people — that’s so very cool.
Get yourself a PHD, or two, or three… if it’s not for you, you can send it back; but I think you’re gonna like the way you sound.

The Brand
I have a PHD in Classics from THE Ohio State University (O-H!…..), which means I’m into Greek and Roman things. Mythology and ancient religions are my jam, hence the ideas behind the pedal art.
Being a story nerd, I have stacks and stacks of sci-fi and fantasy books to keep the pedals company.
My wife and I have 5 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a varying number of chickens…deep in the heart of Texas.

My gear is made with quality stuff:
durable UV printing on powder-coated aluminum enclosures, through-hole components that are hand-soldered, and reliable mechanical parts.
